You never post us the original. Ever.
After you order, you will get a confirmation email from us. Just reply to that email and attach a picture of your photo. That is the whole process. No app, no account, no upload page to figure out.
If you would rather not wait, you can email us the photo straight away at esaihernandez4@gmail.com with your order number in the subject line.
How to take a picture of a print with your phone
You do not need a scanner. A phone photo taken properly is enough for a full restoration, and most of the photos we work on arrive exactly this way.
- Take the photo out of the frame or album if you safely can. Glass causes reflections. If it is stuck to the glass, leave it alone and photograph it as it is, then tell us. We deal with that often.
- Lay it flat on a table, a floor or a windowsill. Not held in your hand.
- Use daylight, not a lamp and not the flash. Near a window on an overcast day is perfect. Flash bounces straight back off the print.
- Stand so your own shadow is not on the photo. This is the one people miss.
- Hold the phone flat above it, parallel to the print, and fill the frame with the photo. Get close. More pixels on her face means more detail we can recover.
- Take three. Send us all of them and we will pick the best.
What to tell us
When you send the photo, one or two lines helps enormously:
- Who is in it, and roughly what year, if you know
- Whether you want colour added, or the damage repaired and left black and white
- Anything you would like us to be careful with, for example a face that matters more than the rest
- Whether there is a deadline. Say so and we will work to it
Not sure your photo is good enough?
Send it to us before you buy anything. We will look at it and tell you honestly what we think we can do with it, including when the answer is not much. That costs you nothing and takes us a few minutes.
